We had great difficulty in selecting a name for our
boat. Previously we had a small yacht which was named Teal. Teal is an ideal
name short,clear and a good name if you have to contact anybody by phone or radio.Unfortunately it is very popular on the
canals. We wanted a name which, if possible, was unique. The name But'n'Ben was
suggested. But'n'Ben is a Scottish term for a small two roomed house. It is reputed that everybody in Glasgow would like a But and Ben
in the Highlands. Therefore it is more than a name, more like a dream. It is also a place
of shelter. One of the first boats we saw when we launched our boat was another
But'n'Ben near Derby, so much for being unique!
